When one is tested with uncertainty, the true dedication is revealed. This was the case with Madhu Madhav Das, a dedicated book distributor at ISKCON Pune - NVCC and a senior disciple of HH Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaja, who recently found himself on a hospital bed — not as a book distributor, but as a patient.
What started as minor chest discomfort & breathing difficulties escalated into an urgent diagnosis. Amidst tests, ECGs, and anxious nights, he was finally advised to undergo angiography. Doctors suspected something serious — possibly a heart issue — and he was quickly prepared for an angiography. For a few tense days, uncertainty loomed. But through it all, Madhu Madhav Das remained calm, not because he ignored the danger, but because he was anchored in faith.
With a Bhagavad-gita As It Is by his side, he drew strength from the Lord’s teachings:
"For the soul there is neither birth nor death..." (BG 2.20)
Each verse was a reminder that beyond the body lies the unshaken spirit — untouched by disease or fear.
Then came the results: All clear. The heart was healthy. No complications. Relief swept over him and his family. But instead of simply walking away from the experience, Madhu Madhav Das turned it into an opportunity for service.
Still in the hospital, now with a lighter heart and a grateful smile, he began distributing Bhagavad-gitas to the nurses, doctors, and staff who had cared for him.
Madhu Madhav Das's story reminds us that every experience, even a hospital stay, can become a platform for devotion and outreach. When we carry Krishna in our hearts, any place becomes a holy place, and every person becomes a soul to serve.
